Adult Leisure is an exciting new group from Bristol who promise to contribute a dreamy, ballad-driven approach to the alt-indie scene with their polished debut album, ‘The Things You Don’t Know Yet’. Having listened to and enjoyed their singles, I decided to head down to Kazimier Stockroom on the 8th November, the final pit stop on their UK tour. Locating the Kazimier Stockroom is not unlike attempting to navigate a speakeasy: Initially, you wander into a bustling outdoor bar, complete with live DJ, and wonder if you’ve walked through the wrong door; turn a corner, and you may mistakenly stumble

Don’t be fooled by its title: ‘Frogfest’ is not a show of short-bodied amphibians, nor is it merely an appreciation for the species. In fact, it’s an all-day alternative music festival which promises versatility, talent and, best of all: an overwhelming feel for the gothic. I couldn’t wait to attend. Whilst admittedly still in its budding stages, my debut visit to this year’s edition proved it has already carved a solid identity for itself as one of the standout live events on offer in Liverpool. Frogfest 2025 consisted of a carefully curated lineup of 11 groups and artists over the

You could say it’s been a long time coming… I’ve seen Preen live once before – they hosted their Spring Special at The George Tavern a couple of years ago. I knew I’d have to get tickets again if they ever ventured up north and, well, here we are. I get to The Jac for around 9:30, pushing open the old black door and heading down to the basement. It’s such a cool space, with its low ceilings and a small soundboard at the back that screams grassroots venue. The London-based quintet arrives about 15 minutes later, kicking off their

It’s a sunny Friday evening and I’m sat on a wall next to my Dad in the middle of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. We’re waiting for doors, sitting just down the road from the one and only District. Tonight is all about Florist, an indie folk quartet from New York that fits right in with the likes of Big Thief and Phoebe Bridgers. As the clock strikes eight, we head inside. Grace Elizabeth Harvey makes her way onto stage. Florist’s support is a talented singer-songwriter with powerful vocals and a penchant for intricate guitar melodies. She’s just released her debut EP

Ernest Aines Gig Review: All Hallows Church, Allerton, 6/6/25 All Hallows C of E Church is a hidden gem in the suburb of Allerton just outside of Liverpool city centre; nestled in between semi detached houses and surrounded by a moat of greenery. It’s also where Melbourne folk singer-songwriter Ernest Aines has returned after a short period of four months, to a sold out show; in anticipation of his upcoming album, and following the release of his recently released single, “Just Once”. I arrived around ten minutes after the huge, ornate wooden doors opened and chose a pew to sit

I’m ashamed to admit that before this gig, I hadn’t heard of the four-piece Welsh punk band Panic Shack, and I can’t think of a time I’ve ever been so happy to be enlightened! Liverpool must have done something to get in the good books this week, because the city has been blessed with not one, but two performances from the band. I had the honour of attending the Thursday night performance at the Arts Club. Part of the group’s national tour, there’s certainly a lot to celebrate with the recent release of their fantastic single ‘Gok Wan’, and a

Gengahr’s debut album A Dream Outside turns 10 this June. To celebrate, they’re heading out on tour – bringing their dreamy indie sound to grassroots venues up and down the country. They’re returning to rooms they played as a young band as well as visiting newer spaces. Supported by Alice Costelloe, the quartet take to Future Yard’s stage for the first time. Gengahr’s set begins at around 9:30 and they play their first record in full. A Dream Outside is thirty-six minutes of classic 2010s alt-pop, crammed with hazy guitars and catchy hooks. Add the echoing falsetto of frontman Felix

Tonight, I’m heading to Birkenhead for Do Nothing’s first gig of the year – the Nottingham four-piece are headlining Future Yard’s ‘Onomatoposter’ launch. The exhibition is a collaboration with printmaker/designer extraordinaires Toucan Tango, and gig posters line the walls of the Future Yard gallery space. It’s an unbelievably cool project and definitely worth a visit – the gallery will be open until the end of March. Do Nothing kick off with ‘Happy Feet’ before heading straight into their new single, ‘Summer of Hate’. The band’s latest offering does not disappoint – I’ve had it on repeat since October. (Side note:

Geneva Jacuzzi is the embodiment of cool and unusual, as was her chosen Liverpool venue for her much anticipated tour with brooding synth pop goddess Riki: The Rough Trade Centre, vinyl and coffee shop by day, booming concert venue by night. I arrived at the venue at 7:45, and walked the stairs, guided by a droning yet simultaneously uplifting buzz of synth and fluorescent green lights. “This is really cool”, my friend exclaimed. I agreed. After grabbing a drink, we headed to the stage, and were greeted with the ethereal performance of Slovakian support act ‘Woman’s Touch’, clad with a

It’s been almost a year since I started writing these reviews – since I saw Divorce support Willie J Healey on tour last November. Tonight, I’m heading to Future Yard in Birkenhead to catch them on their autumn headline tour. I’ve been looking forward to this one for ages. I arrive at quarter to eight and head towards the back room, the wristband I’ve just been given matching the bright pink that covers the walls. Just after eight o’clock, Oscar Browne makes his way onto stage. He’s joined by Jack Slater Chandler, who takes a seat to Browne’s left and
