Lark Lane, Sefton Park. Studio has been operating 31 years this year!
What experience do your Sound Engineers have?
Al Groves – 13 years as Record Producer/Mixer. Six years operating Sandhills Studio, six based in The Motor Museum. 3 x Gold selling album (UK, US and Australia), 2 x Number One album. Credits include Bring Me The Horizon, Cast, Paris Youth Foundation, Ko Ko Mo, Spilt.
Loic Gaillard (In-House Engineer) – 2 years In-House at The Motor Museum. Graduated LIPA with a 1st class BsC Hons in Sound Technology, winner of the Music Producers Guild LIPA award. Credits include Little Comets, Neon Waltz, Stealing Sheep, Little Triggers, Spilt.
Are there any particular music genres that suit your recording style?
We’re mainly known for Indie, Alternative, and Rock genres. Previous clients include Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, The View, Blood Red Shoes, The Courteeners, The La’s, Cast, The Kooks, Ben Howard, Jake Bugg, The Coral, Macy Gray, Keane, The Black Keys.
Can your studio accommodate both large bands and single artists?
Yes!
Do artists have the option of recording ‘live tracks’?
Yes!
Can you give us a run down on what recording equipment you use and also if there is equipment in the studio that bands can use (amps etc)
Based around a vintage Neve 8232 console, a Pro Tools HDX system with 24 in/40 out and a large selection of outboard and microphones. Yes there is backline available including vintage Ludwig and Tama drum kits, amps from Badcat/Dr Z/Mesa/Ampeg and Marshall and a large boutique pedal collection.
How much studio time would you recommend for a band looking to record a demo (3 tracks)
We only work on masters (rather than demo’s) but usually say 1.5 – 2 days per song is about right.
