The UK’s leading independent festival for new music, Sound City, is now in the final countdown toward launching the UK’s festival season across the first May Bank Holiday weekend.
Sound City will showcase over 300 of the very best bands, artists and performers from across the world and closer to home, offering an unrivalled chance to discover some of the very best emerging talent out there, from local heroes to stellar international talent. Set in one of the UK’s hottest city destinations, the entire Baltic Triangle area will become a bustling hub during the festival taking over 20 locations, with a vibrant festival spirit spreading across the entire city.
With so many artists to choose from – and just one wristband needed to experience as many as possible – the venue splits have now been revealed, helping everyone to plan their weekends. Guest include Peace, DMA’s, The Slow Readers Club, Picture This, Sunset Sons, King Khan & The Shrines, Yellow Days, Idles, Baxter Dury, Stealing Sheep, Jaws, Dermot Kennedy, Wye Oak, Black Honey, Jade Bird, The Blinders, Gaffa Tape Sandy, Sorry, Sam Fender, Billie Marten, Matt Maltese, Saint Phnx and literally 100s more, plus label parties and showcases from Heavenly Records, ATC Live, DIY, Modern Sky Records, Kycker Music, Zandari Festa, SESAC, End of The Trail, WRONG festival, Threshold, Lab Records, Punch Records, The Local, DITTO and Sentric Music.
The annual Sound City + business event launches the whole weekend, as the UK’s leading independent conference for new music. Founded to champion the rich and diverse creative output of the North of England and welcoming and celebrating exciting artists and leading executives from all over the world every year.
Sound City’s wider arts programming includes The Unusual Art Sourcing Company, Flat Pack Music, Cosi Fan Tutte, WORM/Pirate Bay, Arts Lab, Tim Peaks Diner and Gigs and Graphics ’20 x 20’.
The Baltic Triangle offers an incredible range of venues nestled together, many along the same criss-crossing of streets and alleys, creating an urban festival experience in the heart of Liverpool, from Camp and Furnace, Constellations and Hangar 34, to Unit 51, Baltic Social, Red Door Vintage and 24 Kitchen Street. And there is a wealth of other pursuits to check out during the weekend too, with an abundance of artisanal food and drink, Ghetto Golf, Peaky Blinders Bar, fine ales available at Tap & Still, Craft Minded and Tank room and the bustling Baltic Market to visit day and night.
